Field Application Case: Well Su 25-3-11
Project Background
Well Su 25-3-11 is located in the Heshanggou Block, a conventional development well in the Sulige Gas Field of the Ordos Basin. When drilling the 683-2430m interval, the operation faced challenges such as highly abrasive formations, low ROP (Rate of Penetration), and complex downhole conditions. Additionally, a tripping operation was required mid-drilling for plugging, placing extremely high demands on the overall performance of the drill bit.

Application Solution
To address the formation characteristics and construction requirements of this well, our 6-1/2" SD6522 PDC Bit (Bit Serial No. 2789) was selected. Matched with conventional drilling technology, the bit covered the full 683-2430m interval, with the goal of maximizing drilling efficiency and shortening the drilling cycle while ensuring downhole safety.

Performance Highlights
1. Outstanding ROP, Significant Cost & Time Savings
The SD6522 bit achieved an average ROP of 30.12m/h in the Heshanggou Formation, completing 1747m of footage with a single bit. This performance far exceeds the average ROP level of conventional bits in the same block, directly shortening the drilling cycle of this interval and saving substantial drilling and time costs for the operator.
2. Strong Formation Adaptability & High Operational Stability
Against the highly abrasive Heshanggou Formation, the SD6522 PDC bit demonstrated excellent impact resistance and wear resistance on its blades. No cutter chipping or severe wear occurred during the entire drilling process. The bit was only tripped for the required plugging operation, with no premature tripping caused by bit failure, ensuring the continuity and safety of drilling operations.
3. Wide Compatibility, Meeting On-Site Construction Needs
The bit is fully compatible with conventional drilling processes, requiring no additional adjustment of drilling parameters. It seamlessly integrated with the existing workflow of Crew 40695, simplifying on-site operation and reducing construction difficulty and extra investment, realizing efficient, stable, and low-cost drilling operations.
Customer Feedback
The on-site engineer of Crew 40695 commented:
"The performance of the SD6522 bit in Well Su 25-3-11 exceeded our expectations. It delivered stable performance throughout the 1747m footage, and the average ROP of 30.12m/h greatly improved our construction efficiency. The bit has excellent wear resistance, with no premature tripping issues, helping us successfully complete the drilling of this interval. We will continue to promote the use of this model in subsequent wells in the same block."
