1. Project Background

The Shihezi Formation of Sulige Gas Field is dominated by quartz sandstone and debris sandstone, featuring strong abrasiveness and poor drillability, which is a core bottleneck for drilling speed enhancement in the region. Conventional PDC bits in this well area often suffer from low mechanical drilling rate, insufficient single-bit footage, and frequent tripping operations, directly increasing drilling cycle and operation costs. During the construction of Well Su 76-5-31SX, Drilling Team 40695 urgently needed a bit product adaptable to highly abrasive formations and capable of efficient drilling to break through the drilling bottleneck of the Shihezi Formation.
